As the Center for Democracy Research (CDR), in partnership with the U.S.-based independent research organization Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) and with the financial support of the U.S. Mission Türkiye, we invite you to fill out the registration form to participate in the seminars organized within the scope of the "CDR AI | Enhancing the AI Capacity of Civil Society in Türkiye" project.

This project aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of civil society organizations in Türkiye regarding artificial intelligence and digitalization. The seminars held within the scope of the project will help civil society representatives gain insights into artificial intelligence technologies and enhance their digital skills.

The seminars will be held in two cities:

📍 November 11, 2024, Istanbul | Postane
📍 November 12, 2024, Ankara | Turkish American Association Conference Hall

The seminars will last a full day in each city and consist of two sessions. The events will be held between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and lunch will be provided by us. In the first session, Merve Hickok, President of the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP), will present "Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, and Democratic Values," discussing the relationship between AI, ethics, and democracy. In the second session, Umut Baran Zorlu, CDR AI Program Coordinator, will deliver a presentation titled "Empower Your Organization with Generative AI," focusing on AI-based solutions that do not require programming knowledge for civil society organizations.

Participants will learn how AI technologies can be utilized in civil society organizations and have the opportunity to develop strategies to enhance the AI capacity of civil society in Türkiye.

Attendees will be provided with a booklet prepared within the project, offering guidance on the digital transformation and AI integration of civil society organizations in Türkiye. This booklet includes strategies and recommendations on the ethical and socially beneficial use of AI technologies, addressing the challenges in AI use and discussing the impacts of these technologies on democratic processes and human rights. Nesibe Kırış, Consultant of the CDR AI Program, will discuss the booklet and share detailed insights on how artificial intelligence can be used as a strategic tool for civil society organizations.

In addition, participants will receive a set of "Trustworthy AI Cards," which present principles supporting the reliable and ethical use of AI.

Participation is free, and lunch will be provided. The session titled "Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, and Democratic Values" will be in English, while the remaining sessions will be conducted in Turkish, with simultaneous translation available.
